THE WILL OF JOHN WOOD

I JOHN WOOD of Darby in the county of Chester in the province of pensilvania Yeoman being very much Indisposed of Body but of perfect mind & memory Thanks be to God for the same do make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament the Twenty seventh day of the fourth month called June Anno Dom 1728 That is to say principally and first of all I give & Recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I comitt it to the Earth to be Decently buried at the Discretion of my Exct. Hereafter named and as for such worldly Goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with all in this Life I give and Dispose in manner and form Following Impr. My sill is that Just Debts and Funerall Charges be fully paid by my Exct. Hereafter named.

Item I give & bequeath to my son George Wood five Shillings

Item I give & bequeath to my son John Wood the sum of five Shillings

Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Ann wife to Owen Owens the sum of five shillings

Item I give and Bequeath to my son Abraham Wood Twenty five pounds

Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Hannah Wood the sum of Twenty five pounds

Item I give to my son William Wood one half of the money that he stands Indebted to me upon my Book.

Item I give and Bequeath to my Grandson Aubrey Wood by my son Aubrey Decd. The sum of Twenty pounds to be paid by my Exct. Hereafter named when he shall come to the age of Twenty one years

Item I give to my Exct. Hereafter named my Dwelling house Bolting house and all other my buildings & Improvements Together with all my Lotts and parcels of Land situate in the province of pensilvania with all the appurtenances thereunto Belonging to them and their assigns to sell and dispose of such part as they shall think proper to pay my Debts and Legacies and all the remaining part I give to my son Joseph Wood his heirs and assigns forever but if my son Joseph shall Dye before he shall come to ye age of Twenty one years & leave lawfull Issue of his body then my will is that , that part of my Estate be Divided amongst my Children at the Discretion of my wife and my friend Michael Blunston whom I constitute and appoint to act and do together with my wife in this Behalf

Item my will is that my Beloved wife Rebecca shall have any one room in my Dwelling house which she shall chuse Together with fire wood for her use of my said Lands during her naturall life or while she remains my widdow

Item I give and Bequeath to my Exect. Hereafter named all my goods chattels Debts Dues and Demands whatsoever or in any wise to one belonging. Together with the sixteenth part of the Brigateen Mary Ann now upon he voyage to sea with all her profitts Towards paying my Debts & Legacies

Item I constitute and appoint my beloved wife Rebecca and my son Joseph Wood to be full and sole Executrix and Executor of this my Last Will & Testament hereby giving them full power to make good and sufficient Titles to such Lotts and parcells of Land as they are hereby Impowered to sell for the use aforesaid and I do Declare this and only this and no other to be my Last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills and Testament by me made

Chester August the 9th 1728 Then personally appeared Samll. Bethell & Thomas Wood Junr. Two of the witnesses to ye above written will who on their solemn affirmation Did Declare they were present and saw the Testator therein named sign seal publish pronounce and Declare the said writing to be his Last Will and Testament. And that at the doing thereof he was of sound mind & memory to the best of their understanding.

BE IT REMEMBERED that the ninth day of Aug. Anno Dom 1728 the Last will and Testament of John Wood late of Darby in the said county Deced. Was proved in due form of Law and probate & Letters of administration was Granted to his wife Rebecca Wood and his son Joseph Wood sole Exetrs. In the said will named being first attested well and Truly to administer and to bring in an Inventory of the said Deced. Estate into the Regt. Office for the county of Chester on or before ye ninth day of September next to Exhibitt and to render a just account of your said administration when Legally thereunto required Given under the seal of the said office.
