Chester November 30th 1773. When Personally appeared Jno. GRIFFITH & Ebenezer GRIFFITH and on their solemn Oaths on the holy Evangels of Almighty God, did depose, declare & say that they were personally present & did see & hear James DAVIS the Testator within named, sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the last within writing as a codicil to & as a part & parcel of his last Will & Testament and that at the doing thereof their understandings;

In the Name of God Amen I James DAVIS of Tredyffrin Township in the County of Chester and Province of Pennsylvania Being Aged and Infirm and Calling to mind my Mortality Do make this my last Will and Testament in Manner following Viz. I recommend my Soul to God who gave it In hope of acceptance Through a redeemer and I resign my Body to the Dust from Whence it Came to be Decently Interred, By my Executors hereafter Named And as to my Worldly Estate I dispose it in the Manner following Vis. Inprimis I have heretofore Given and Settled Upon my Beloved Wife Elizabeth DAVIS The sum of Ten pounds Yearly to be paid to her after my Decease By Lewis GRONOW Together with all and Every the Goods and Effects Thee brought into my Possession at our Marriage and since as also the sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid her by my Executors in one year after my Decease all of Which to be in full of her Dower.

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my son Jacob DAVIS The sum of Fifty pounds To be paid him By my Executors in One year after my Decease,

Item I Give and Bequeath unto my so Israel DAVIS the sum of one shilling starling to be paid him in One Year after my Decease,

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Grandson Methusalah DAVIS The sum of forty pounds to be paid him out of a fourth payment to become due to my Estate from Lewis GRONOW in One Year after the same shall become due

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Grandson James DAVIS the sum of fifty seven pounds to be paid him of the fifth payment to be Due, on the said Bond with Intrest Untill he arrives to the age of twenty one years

Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Joseph DAVIS The sum of forty pounds to be paid him out of the sixth payment of said Bond With Intrest Untill he arrives at the age of Twenty One Years

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Grandson Israel DAVIS the sum of Forty pounds to be paid him out of the Seventh payment of said Bond

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Grand Daughter Rachel DAVIS the sum of Forty pounds out of the Eighth payment of said Bond When shee arives to the age of Eighteen years

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Grand Daughter Leah DAVIS the sum of sixty three pounds To be paid her out of the Ninth payment of Said Bond When shee arives to the age of Eighteen Years with two years Intrest all the remaining Intrest to be applied Towards her Cloaking and Schoolling----

Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Grandson Joshua DAVIS the sum of Forty Pounds to be paid him When he arives to the age of Twenty one years But and if Either or any of my Said Grand Children Should Depart this life before the respective age or ages aforsaid and Without Lawfull Issue then his her or their Share or Shares Shall Descend to their Brothers and Sisters or Lawfull representatives Share and Share alike

Item Under the above regulations I Give and Bequeath Unto Beninah DAVIS the youngest Daughter of my Son Israel DAVIS The Sum of Fifty pounds to be paid her When shee arives at the age of Eighteen Years

Item I Demise Unto my Grandson James DAVIS all that Messauge Plantation or parcel of Land Situate in Charlestown Where my son Israel DAVIS now liveth Together With all the Deeds Evidences and Writings thereunto Belonging to be Unto him his Heirs and Assigns forever his father Israel DAVIS to Ocupy and Improve the Same Untill my Said Grandson Shall arive to the Age of twenty One Years And my further Will is that if my Said son Should Die before he arives to the age afforesaid and Without Lawfull Issue that then I Impower my Executors or Survivors of them to sell said Land and the Same Legally to Convey and the Money Arising therefrom to pay Unto his Surviving Brothers and Sisters Share and Share Alike

Item I Give all my Dearing Apparel Unto my two Sons Share and Share alike Namely Jacob and Israel DAVIS to be Settled by my Executors AND I do hereby Constitute and appoint my Cousin Griffith JONES and my trusty friend Thomas WATTERS Together With my Grandson James DAVIS my sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament revoking and Disanulling all former Will and Wills by one made and Declaring this to be my last Will and Testament

P.S. Whereas in the Body of my Will I have Constituted and appointed my Cousin Griffith JONES and Trusty friend Thomas WATERS To be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament Now know ye That for some Weighty Reasons which have Since Occurred, I thought proper to alter that part onely of this my Will. I hereby request of (and constitute has been scribbled above here) and I Appoint, Constitute and Impower my other Trusty and respected friend Joshua EVANS of Willistown Township Together with my afforesaid Grandson James DAVIS to be sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament and Declare this postscript to be an additional part of my before written last Will and Testament. Witness my hand and seal this twenty fifth Day of October, 1773---
