HEALD

     Dr. Charles E. Heald passed away Saturday morning after a short
illness in the West Grove Hospital.
     He was born in December, 1873, at Rosedale, a son of Joseph and
Sara Wickersham Heald, and attended Martin Academy, Kennett Square, and
graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School.  He located
in West Grove in 1896, where he practiced Dentistry for 50 years.
     He was a member of the Society of Friends, member of New London
Lodge F. & A. M. No. 545 for 50 years and served as Treasurer.  He was
also a member of Kennett Chapter of Royal Arch Masons for 50 years,
director of West Grove Building and Loan Assoc., serving as treasurer
from 1921 to 1951 and as a director from 1907 to 1957; a charter member
of West Grove Fire Co., director of A. A. A. for past 20 years, served
on Board of Trustees for Embreeville Hospital, held a lifetime
membership in the Republican Party of Chester Co., and served as a
committeeman , served 4 years as Register of Wills, and was Burgess of
West Grove for several terms.
     His wife, Cora Marshall Heald, died on July 26, 1943.
     He is survived by a son, Howard M. Heald, and a daughter, Anna,
wife of George March, both of West Grove.  There are four grandchildren
and a brother, Percy M. Heald of West Chester.
     Services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Foulk Funeral Home.
Interment was made in the Longwood Cemetery with Masonic services.  The
speakers were Elizabeth Sill and Rev. J. D. Edmiston Turner.  Bearers
were Robert Ewing, Scott Houston, William Johnson, Byron Moore, Charles
Lucas, and C. William Heald.
     Among those attending the funeral was Dr. Heald's classmate, Dr.
William Diller, of Philadelphia, who still practices, but returned from
his vacation in New England when the word was received.

Elizabeth L. P. Moore, wife of the late Levi P. Moore, formerly a well
know farmer of Londonderry township, died on Sunday at the home of her
son, William P. Moore, near Chatham.  She was a daughter of Timothy and
Martha Paxson, and was born in Sadsbury township.  The deceased, who was
in her 85th year, passed away following a week's illness with pneumonia.
She is survived by two sons, Elwood, of West Marlborough, and William
P., of London Grove.  A son, Howard, died in infancy.  William L.
Paxson, of Parkesburg, is a brother.  There are seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Paxson was a birthright member of the Society of Friends.  For more
that thirty years she was the president of the Londonderry W. C. T. U.
and active in temperance and other reforms.  At the time of her death
she was honorary president of Londonderry W. C. T. U.
