Mordecai D. Cornog

The Cornog family early settlers in this county, where its descendants are quite numerous. Abner, son of Abraham and Dinah Cornog, married Margaret Davis. To them were born 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters, of whom the eldest son and 5th child, Mordecai Davis cornog, was born Feb 18, 1818, in Easttown twp. On his mother's (Davis) side he is likewise of Welsh descent. He passed his youth on his father's farm and was educated in the subscription schools. He was married Feb 18, 1837, to Sophia Curll, dau of Thomas and margaret Curll. The union was blessed with 3 children; Naomi, married to Watson Lobb; Ella, married to Christian Lapp; and Jennette Davis. He bagan farming on his own account in Charlestown twp just before his marriage, and some 7 or 8 years subsequently came to the place he now owns. This is the old Cornog homestead of167 acres to which his parents moved when he was but one year old, and which after his father's death he took at the appraisement. He belonged to the Great Valley Baptist church.
