William McKnight

Will: 8 Nov 1759 Rowan Co., NC Note: In the name of God Amen, The Eighth Day of November in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Nine, I William McKnight in the Parish of St. Luke in the County of Rowan, in the Province of North Carolina, being thro' the abundant mercy and goodness of Almighty God, tho weak in body, yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same; do constitute, ordain and appoint this my Last Will and Testament and order and desire it may be received by all whom it may concern. I most humbly bequeath my soul to God, my maker, redeemer, beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it through the mediation of my most compassionate Redeemer, Jesus Christ, who gave himself in atonement for my sins. In this hope and confidence I render up my soul with comfort, I give my body to the earth, from whence it was taken, in full assurance of it's resurrection from thence at the resurrection day, and as for my burial, I desire it may be decent, without pomp or state, at this direction of my executors herein after named, who I doubt not, will manage it with prudence and gravity, and as to my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me, I will and positively order the same in the following manner and form, after payment of all my debts and funeral charges.
